Have you received this error "Check VSC System" on your Toyota Camy Hybrid?
My wife and I purchased a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 68,000 miles in July of 2012. We live in Arizona where it can get quite hot and for the first few months the Camry functioned perfectly. In October when the weather started to cool down a bit we experienced our first problem. I started the car in the morning on my way to take my kids to school and the "Check VSC System" came on along with the Brake, Hazard, Warning, and ABS Lights. I thought that it may be because of the cool weather but as I started to drive I noticed that the brakes did not function properly. I had to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor just to get the car to stop. It seemed as though the hydraulic assist for the brakes had stopped working.
Toyota states that the error code is C1391 or in other words error code C1391 and the car needs a new ABS Accumulator at a cost of $2800.00. I decided to do some research online and have found many others with the same issue. Toyota refuses to do anything about it. I guess there is a certain number of people that need to die or be critically injured in a car accident because of brake failure. Anyone that has experienced this issue knows that the brakes do not work the way they should when this light appears and can definitly be the cause of an accident.
I decided to build this website so Toyota can take a further look into the problem and recall the faulty ABS accumulator. This Camry is a family car for us and I am sure for a lot of other people. I would be devasted if something happened to my family as a result of this malfunctioning system.
I also have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma in which Toyota had to settle a lawsuits due to accidents caused from floor mat entrapment of accelerator pedals
It is Toyota's moral duty to investigate this issue and get it rectified. Sadly Toyota did not take action quickly enough with the floor mat issue which has resulted in 13 crashes, 5 deaths and severe injuries to the victims involved as seen on USA Today
